HEFA rejects the proposed Marine Protected Area for the Eastern Shore. We are the only fisheries organization to take this unequivocal stand against the MPA.
There is nothing identified by DFO that needs protecting, or that can be protected by an MPA. There has been nothing identified by DFO that the MPA can protect against. With the lack of something to protect and to be protected from there is absolutely no grounds for the establishment of an MPA on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia.
